Koya Webb is an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G woman. I was fortunate to meet her last June and spend some days with her. She is an international yoga teacher, personal trainer, holistic health and wellness coach and much more. Koya came to Barcelona to teach a weekend of workshop and the week before I got to know her on a more personal level.
To start off, she is person I really look up to and admire. She expresses many qualities that I value: creativity, following your dreams, consistency, and above all, love and kindness. I loved going to vegan restaurants with her (yes, she showed me new places close to where I live that I didn't know, this was awesome!) and practicing acroyoga on the beach. She is super strong!
One of the things that made me connect with Koya from the very beginning was her story. Koya used to be a track and field athlete but she got injured and her future plans of college scholarships and the Olympics went out the window. It was then that yoga came into the picture and allowed her space to explore and find movement again in her body. As a former athlete myself, it was something that I instantly connected to. She also shares so much knowledge on veganism and wellness, so new tips and tricks are assured in each conversation. Plus, she is a super fan of the book "The life you were born to live: a guide to learning you life purpose" by Dan Millman. Although I am usually quite skeptical with these things, it was exactly what I needed in that moment of my life. After going through a big crisis in my personal life, the week with her allowed me to heal at an exponentially and renewed my perspective and love for life.
What about her classes and workshops? Koya classes are intense and she will make you work hard. What I like the most is that you don't just work on a physical level, but also emotionally. It was one of the most transformative yoga classes I have ever gone to and definitely recommend that you go practice with her if ever get the change (hopefully she will come back to Barcelona!). Love you girl!
